ABOUT SHUNUNEMPLOYMENT FOUNDATION
The Youth segment, between the ages of 15-45 form close to 60% of Africa population and are the most creative, innovative and energetic. However, due to the socio-economic conditions and especially poor focus on developing the real sector and Small and Medium scale enterprises in Africa, there has been unprecedented rural-urban migration, limited opportunities for employment and a growing incidence of unemployability. As part of efforts to tackle these issues, Shun Unemployment introduced shununemployment Campus Tour, community/grass-roots impact projects, media productions and annual business-career fair in order to reach out to the unemployed in Nigeria, Ghana and other African countries.
This initiative aims at reducing youth unemployment in Africa by creating an empowerment platform, through a model consisting of three integrated ideas: TRAIN, EMPOWER, and NURTURE (TEN). It consists of a strategy to reach out to undergraduates, graduates, artisans and youth entrepreneurs across Africa. This strategy is designed at engaging with students and non-students across the 6 geo-political zones in Nigeria.
Through this project, the youths are psychologically and intellectually empowered through our four modules such as start-up skills, entrepreneurship skills, communication and negotiation skill and self-discovery (personal branding).” This is in recognition of the widely accepted fact that Africa Youth is gifted, talented and endowed with creativity but with little or no effort to enhance them.
Graduates, undergraduates and artisans can, through the instrumentality of this platform be encouraged to start off on their own without seeking white collar employment. The discovery and support of the passionate and the talented Youth Entrepreneur can birth brilliant ideas into profitable and sustainable businesses, which will in turn create jobs as well as other entrepreneurs. In this process, the Shun Unemployment Project can greatly, reduce poverty, unemployment, crime, and boost the Nigeria economy through the much needed diversification and more importantly, bring forth Global Business Leaders.
